The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage is the new state of the art 530 seat theater provides a unique venue on the westside of Los Angeles for profesional presentations of opera, music and dance, as well as academic and community events such as lectures, symposia, meetings and screenings. As a gathering and transition space between parking and the lobby, the entry plaza is an outdoor extension of the lobby. The mass of the theater house is veiled by a glass structure that screens outside noise and provides natural light into the lobby. The interior of the theater is shaped and layered by convex architectural elements that provide sound reflection and acoustic diffusion, as well as opportunities for discreet theater lighting.
